Where Function Meets Fashion

Happy Thursday folks! In this week’s edition, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Apiece Apart: a brand that seamlessly marries design, functionality, and sustainability. Founded by two creative minds, Starr and Laura, who met at design school in New York, Apiece Apart has become a symbol of versatile fashion born out of a birthday road trip and a shared passion for thoughtful design.

Starr & Laura
This big brand only started from two friends embarking on a road trip for their 30th birthdays. The concept was simple but revolutionary: design a collection where pieces could be intermixed and packed in a single bag, ready to accompany you anywhere and everywhere.
As life led Starr Hout to upstate New York and Laura Cramer to Austin, Texas, the duo found themselves navigating two distinct surroundings and climates. This geographical diversity inspired Apiece Apart to craft a collection that caters to a range of wardrobe needs. The result? Pieces that effortlessly transition from city markets to store work, dinner in Alexandria, or cheering on your kids at a game—always perfectly balanced.
Starr's trip to Copenhagen injected a burst of vibrant colours into Apiece Apart's repertoire. Experimenting with punchy hues, the collection now features cozy knits in lively turquoises and baggy trousers in a deep redwood hue. Juxtaposing shapes and shades, inspired by the Danes, the brand celebrates the fusion of hard and soft, masculine and feminine.

The heart of Apiece Apart lies in functionality and versatility. From a herringbone wool jacket that can be worn three ways to a gray knit turtleneck poncho with multiple styling options, each piece is a testament to their pragmatic approach—designed for busy lives without sacrificing style.
Sustainability is at the forefront, with 99% of the collection crafted from natural, organic, or recycled fabrics. A chic drape skirt in cream, made from biodegradable cellulose fiber, exemplifies their commitment to environmentally conscious fashion. Signature pieces like cotton-poplin smock dresses and gauzy cutout dresses make a return, while modernized pants, including the on-trend slouchy cotton-linen trouser and green leather pants, capture the essence of the moment.

“We wanted to create a foundation of design that truly supports women’s lives so she can go anywhere and do anything,” says Hout. Apiece Apart is all about pieces that are meant to be worn, loved, and lived in.
Stay chic and versatile,
